My Clinical Philosophy
I believe the art of helping is empowering clients to make better choices, thereby taking control of their lives.
I believe the aim of counseling is to provide a means for the client to evaluate themselves and their system and to gain an understanding of their present human difficulties. I believe solutions are more likely to be embraced if they are self-discovered. It is the counselor’s job to help clients recognize, cultivate, and put into action their discoveries as they. Journey towards their divine destiny.

I believe needs of the clients is their center of their existence. The five basic needs that Glasser concludes to be the strengths that give people their different personalities. Belonging-involvement with others; Power/achievement-external control; Fun/enjoyment-quality of life; Freedom/independence-choices; and Survival-life’s essentials.

.
I believe I would like to be remembered as a counselor who internationally impacted the perceived self-worth of adolescent girls with a series of programs developed utilizing the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
Although they sometimes contradict one another, I believe ethical and legal concepts of counselling are set in pace to protect the client and the counselor. According to Corey, Corey, & Callanan (2011), “Ethics pertains to the standards that govern the conduct of its professional members; law is the body of rules that govern the affairs of people within a community, state, or country. Both being based on what has already occurred tends to limit the scope of some counselors. That is why it is important to develop an ethical sense of striving at the highest level of functioning”.
